If the Fremantle Dockers are not completely pumped after last week’s amazing Round 1, 4-point win against Geelong, then I dont know what could get them more ready and revving to get down to work against Sydney tomorrow afternoon.
Last week’s game was fast, brutal and intense and the players would have gone to their recovery session the next day sporting more then their fair share of bruises, but I doubt there would have been much complaining over the result.
With a new week comes a new opposition and a new challenge and you can bet that Sydney would be looking to rectify the recent form that they have had playing Fremantle at the SCG. The last two times the Dockers have travelled to the home of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, they have come away with the four points, the most recent an 11 point win in round 17, 2011.
Sydney will be refreshed after a week’s rest from their opening game against Greater Western Sydney, and Fremantle need to make sure they dont fall complacent against a team that is rested and didn’t have to travel halfway across the country to play.
The loss of Hayden Ballantyne will hurt, especially since he kicked 3 goals against them last time, but big man Ross Lyon has shown faith in the preseason for of Jack Anthony to recall him for the important match.
I think if the Dockers can maintain the pressure and intensity of last week on the smaller ground, they could surprise the swans. Its hard to gauge Sydney’s form after a hit out against the minnows, but with superstars like Adam Goodes and Ryan O’Keefe in the team, you know they’re going to be good. It should be an arm wrestle right from the get go, but i think Sydney might just get across the line at home.
My prediction: Sydney by 4.
