It seems there was more for the Chiefs to play for then the Force on Friday night.
The home team were beaten by the visitors, allowing the Chiefs to be overall ladder leaders. The Western Force on the other hand, seem to struggle to put two amazing games together. After their sound thumping of the Reds last week, I thought the team had finally managed to shake the monkey off their back and play with some freedom and confidence, but that seemed to be a lot of wishful thinking on my part.
If anything positive can be taken out of the 20-12 beating by the Chiefs it was that coach Richard Graham can focus on certain aspects of his team’s game, such as strengthening the back line and breaking the other team’s defence, before they take on the Waratahs at home on Friday night.
If they want to make a run for the finals this year, they need to win these homes games to stay in contention, otherwise they’ll just be sitting out for another year.
